My name is Kate Lovegrove and I am based in Sevenoaks, Kent. As a part-time consultant solicitor specialising in family and child law, and mediation, I act for individuals often at their most vulnerable, whether emotionally or financially. My approach is both sensitive and cost-effective, and I aim to work in a constructive way, to reach a settlement at an early stage of the process wherever possible and help my clients move forward with their lives with dignity. I offer the option of mediation or legal process, and decide with the client on the preferred approach.
When decisive court action is necessary, I advise clients quickly, whether the action is due to urgent financial or child-related matters, or to problems arising in financial negotiations, making a settlement seem unlikely without the court's intervention.
I listen to your objectives, provide an empathic approach, and advise you as to a pragmatic way forward. I offer flexible consultation methods, including via Skype, telephone, at our meeting room in Sevenoaks or London.
I qualified in 2008 and have over ten years experience in family law, including divorce cases ranging from complex and high value to more straightforward; financial disputes between married and unmarried couples; and child contact, access and custody disputes.
I gained extensive knowledge and experience representing previous clients including accountants, lawyers, doctors, housewives and husbands, mothers and fathers, and intervenors.
I studied Law at King's College London, and qualified at a Legal 500 niche family law firm in London. I moved to Kent's largest law firm after six years working in London, and spent three years as an associate in the family team there, during which time I was a recommended lawyer in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of the Legal 500.
I have also appeared as a guest speaker for BBC Radio Kent on family law matters, and contributed articles to the Wealden Times, the Kent and Sussex Courier, Kent Life, Kings Hill Mums Magazine, and MumsWork.
I am a member of Resolution, an organisation for family lawyers who are committed to dealing with cases in a constructive and effective way.
